The Rozdillia region in Lviv is poised for a cultural and tourist revolution! On July 15, 2024, a significant event took place at the Rozdil Palace in Lviv Oblast, where representatives from five territorial communities, along with regional and district leaders, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly implement the ambitious project “MANDRY ROZDILSKI”: A Network of Tourism Routes in the Rozdillia Subregion. This initiative was organized by “Spadshchyna.UA”.
The “MANDRY ROZDILSKI” project aims to transform the Rozdillia region into one of the most visited destinations in Galicia. Specifically, the project includes the creation and sustainable operation of six new tourist routes covering the territory of five communities in the Stryi District of Lviv Oblast: Novorozdilska, Rozvadivska, Trostianetska, Mykolaivska, and Zhydachivska. These communities are geographically located in the Rozdillia subregion.
A focal point of the project is the establishment of a network centered around the Lantskoronsky-Zhevuzhsky Palace in Rozdil. This will provide a boost to the sustainable development of the region’s cultural, tourist, and socio-economic potential.
One of the main tasks is to conduct scientific historical and architectural research. This includes studying the history of Rozdil, cultural heritage sites in the area, and specifically the Lantskoronsky-Zhevuzhsky Palace and its surrounding park. The findings will be used to create two local tourist routes: “Palace Rozdil” and “Rozdil – Rozdól – Rozdil: City at the Crossroads”.
The project also involves conducting scientific research expeditions throughout the Rozdillia subregion. The goal is to explore already identified and discover new cultural and natural heritage sites, create a comprehensive registry, and develop four additional tourist routes, including walking, biking, and cross-territorial bus routes. This will involve updating and popularizing the region’s multicultural cultural and natural heritage. According to the project author, founder of “Spadshchyna.UA” and project manager of “Palace Rozdil” Hanna Havryliv: “Now is the perfect time to launch tourism and implement ‘Mandry Rozdilski’. The region has gained its primary tourist attraction – the ‘Palace Rozdil’ project. It will serve as a successful example of cultural heritage revival and management based on economic efficiency, inspiring Ukrainian society to believe in the potential of cultural heritage.”
Architect and historian Ivan Shchurko adds: “The project plans to develop walking, biking, and bus routes focusing on cultural-historical, sacred, nostalgic, ecological, recreational, and other types of regional tourism, linked to local history, notable personalities, and natural landmarks. Additionally, a network of local guides will be established.”
To ensure effective project implementation, a Memorandum was signed with the participation of leaders from relevant departments of Lviv Oblast State Administration, including the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning and the Tourism and Resorts Administration. The signing also involved the Head of Stryi District State Administration Bohdan Yanko, leaders of the Novorozdil, Rozvadiv, Trostianets, Mykolaiv, and Zhydachiv territorial communities, as well as representatives from “Spadshchyna.UA” and LLC “Palace Rozdil”.
The parties are confident that this partnership project will provide a new impetus for the cultural-tourist and socio-economic development of the region. It will promote increased tourist flows, development of local hospitality infrastructure, and greater awareness of local historical and architectural heritage.
The project is supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Fund.
The project team includes: Hanna Havryliv, Ivan Shchurko, Oksana Lobko, and Maksym Butchenko.
