The Museum of Kyiv International Center together with patron Igor Liski opened the main exhibition project in December – “Christmas Stories of Kyiv”

23.12.2021

The Museum of Kyiv, with the support of Ukrainian businessman Igor Liski, presented a unique exhibition where you can experience the spirit of Christmas of the last century. After visiting the Museum, visitors will see about a thousand exclusive and collectible exhibits that tell the stories of the lives of Kyivans of different eras and create an unforgettable atmosphere of a Christmas and New Year’s miracle.

Among the most interesting exhibits: original greeting cards of local and foreign production, a collection of Christmas tree toys and Santa Clauses, a unique Star of Bethlehem and many collectible Christmas tree decorations. During the entire time of the exhibition, it will be possible to attend excursions and thematic master classes in the museum, which will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of old Kyiv.

On the occasion of the opening, a press conference was organized with the participation of Tetyana Kostenko, general director of the Kyiv Museum of History Museum, head of the supervisory board of EFIGroup, co-founder of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, patron Ihor Lisky, designer Natalya Sergeeva, and museum curator of the exhibition Olga Drug.

“Christmas stories of Kyiv” became possible thanks to the realization of the idea of the famous designer Natalia Sergeeva and the Ukrainian businessman and philanthropist Ihor Lisky. Sometimes it seems that the golden age of patrons has passed, but this exhibition proves that it is not so. We still have bright examples. But for me personally, it is much more important when we start a tradition of long-term cooperation with such projects. We are taking small steps towards our big goal – to create a global wave of Ukrainian philanthropy. I believe that together we are creating a future in which there is a place for the museum, respect for history and beauty,” said Tetyana Kostenko, general director of the Kyiv City History Museum.

The participants of the press conference discussed the need to restore the tradition of patronage and partnership in the cultural sector. The main goal of such cooperation was to care for future generations.

“In this difficult time of global changes, each of us wants to understand why we live. Usually, Christmas and New Year’s holidays are a time to take stock and make new plans. Of course, these are family holidays, during which you want to do great good. For me, the exhibition is a manifestation of family care, which unites the past and the present and allows us to build the future. We want to establish a tradition of visiting museums as a family, together with children and friends in order to revive family values. Kyivans have something to be proud of: incredible traditions, the spirit of patronage and the opportunity to share good things,” said the patron of the exhibition Igor Liski.

Olga Drug also conducted a curatorial tour for the guests of the event, emphasizing the importance of preserving the traditions of philanthropy and educating future generations. Designer and decorator Natalya Sergeeva held a master class on making a New Year’s card for the guests of the event.

“Only through creativity and understanding of beauty and traditions can children discover their own possibilities and develop their inner potential. Every gift and postcard made by their own hands is a great value that children will be able to give to the most precious people in their lives with great love. This exhibition, first of all, carries knowledge that stimulates you to create something new. Our small contribution to this global process consists in opening a wonderful, almost home exhibition, where everyone can come,” shared Nataliya Sergeeva.

The exhibition “Christmas Stories of Kyiv” will be open from December 24, 2021 to January 19, 2022, inclusive. You can visit the master classes by prior appointment on the website of the Museum of History of Kyiv.
